Entry #51

Second Outfit Entry

Pixie Dust Doll Clothes

The inspiration

The idea for this outfit came as a request from my daughter.  She is a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. After going to the Red Concert this spring, she asked me to help her make a Taylor doll.  This contest helped motivate me to get started! We started with a previously-loved Kirsten doll. My daughter took care of cleaning her up and trimming her hair, while I was given the task of creating her wardrobe.  I am going to make several of the Red Concert outfits, but the one Taylor wore while singing “22” is one of my favorites.  This outfit has red jeans, a black striped tee, navy oxford shoes, and a navy and white letter jacket.

The construction
Fabric--

I used Liberty Jane patterns for both the jeans and tee, and a MicheDesigns pattern for the shoes.  I modified the tee to give it the slightly poofed sleeves that Taylor’s tee has.

The letter jacket started as a Butterick pattern, but went through many, many revisions!  I added ribbing to the neckline, sleeves and waist, redesigned the sleeves to accommodate the stiff faux leather fabric, and shortened the length.

The final outfit
Meet Taylor!

From Kirsten to Taylor!  This “new” doll is now ready to take the stage and charm millions of fans.

She’s got her blinged out red mic and newest guitar, just like the concert we saw.  A special thanks to my daughter--she Photoshoped the background into this pic; pretty cool, huh?! I made the guitar from paper and poster board. We didn’t have time to order one from AG!

Signing autographs (Wish we could get one for real!)

A pic with her biggest fan!
(my daughter as a My AG doll--I made the fan outfit a while ago)

My daughter LOVES her new doll!  I hope do too!
