2013 Fashion Design Challenge
Entry #5
From Mimiville
In progress write-up:
"At first, I wasn't quite sure of what I wanted this outfit to be. I had the vague idea that I wanted to primarily use knit fabrics, and then throw in some others that were just as nice to the touch. Aside from that, I wasn't too certain on much else.
So I decided to start with the sweater, and let it go from there. When I was constructing it, it was the focal point in my mind: the centerpiece around which all of the rest of the outfit revolved. In terms of color and style, it inspired the rest. The colors of the other pieces had to complement the sweater (or change to a color that did!)
In the end, the sweater (although still being a main feature) ended up not being the only attraction of this outfit. One of my favorite things about the finished outfit is its variety of textures and patterns, part of which is due to the hat, scarf, knucks I made and added later. They became a key part of the outfit when I found how nicely the soft purple of one yarn, and the mossy green of the other, really set off the colors in other pieces of the outfit.
Everything was made by me from my own patterns, except for the shoes."
Finished product write-up:
"Autumn Stroll, an outfit perfect for long walks in the fall, or even the occasional summer saunter (if she leaves off a few of the warmer pieces!) This outfit is great for rambling about the woods on a pleasant day, or for nestling down into a favorite book on a day that's not so sunny.
The fern-green shirt, and forest-green slouch hat, pair up well with the Bermuda shorts. (which have two fully lined and functional pockets!)
The attractive ruffles on the sweater wrap around the back of the collar, giving it visual appeal from many angles.
With a unique shape and a baby-fern lace design, the scarf looks great with the cabled knucks that are made of the same heather purple yarn. Personally, I like the look of the scarf in a simple overhand knot, but it could be wrapped in several different ways, depending on your tastes.
From woodsy retreats to peppy city streets, this outfit is sure to become an easy favorite for your doll in all of her pastimes."
